Local campaigner, John Dixon, is backing Lib Dem plans which would save thousands of Cardiff North residents £700 a year in tax.

Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg has announced tax plans to help local families.

Under Liberal Democrat plans, no-one would pay tax on the first £10,000 they earn. This will save the average worker £700 in income tax, with many low-paid and part-time workers paying no tax at all!

These tax cuts will be paid for by measures including closing tax loopholes exploited by the very rich, taxes on pollution and a new 'mansion tax' on houses worth more than £2million.

Local Lib Dem campaigner, John Dixon, said: "Labour has failed local families. Ordinary people are paying more and getting less in return. Meanwhile the very rich can dodge the taxes they are supposed to pay with little fear. Our plan will put money back in the pockets of local people."

The Lib Dem plan to help local families couldn't be more different from Conservative plans to cut taxes for millionaires.

Lib Dem Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, said: "The Tories are still planning to cut taxes for a handful of millionaires when the majority of people across the country are feeling the squeeze. We need fair tax cuts that put money back in the pockets of ordinary people. The Tory sums simply do not stack up."
